Benefits to extending foster care
- Successfully complete high school
- Easily enroll in college/trade school
- Be able to secure housing
- Receive a clothing allowance and case management services
- Have extra time to develop solid support systems
- Experience the opportunity to develop and reach your independent living goals
Eligibility Requirements
- Be in out-of-home placement until your 18th birthday
- Sign an agreement for continued supervision and support
- Meet with your social worker at least once a month
- Agree to be a “Non-Minor Dependent” (NMD) of the Juvenile Court
- Reside in an eligible, supervised foster care placement.
And any one of the following:

- Completing High School diploma or GED
- Enrolled in college or trade school
- Participating in a program to remove barriers to employment
- Working at least 80 hours per month
- Incapable of doing any of the above due to a medical / psychological condition
