ILSP Program Coordinator
Hello my name is Don Graves. I have extensive experience and a strong commitment working with young adults transitioning out of the foster care system. I have been working for the Contra Costa County Independent Living Skills Program since April of 1996. I began working as the Cross-Cultural Outreach Specialist and became the Program Coordinator in July of 1998 when the program experienced its greatest expansion.
I have also been a California Youth Connection (CYC) Supporter since 1996 and I believe in its mission to promote the participation of foster youth in policy development and legislative change to improve the foster care system.
Prior to working for Contra Costa County ILSP I worked 3 1/2 years for Bay Area Youth Homes, Inc., an agency providing group home care to foster youth ages 8-18. There I served as group home counselor, facility manager, and finally field supervisor.
I received my BA degree in Sociology from the University of Montana in 1992 after transferring from Chabot Community College in Hayward, California on a full football scholarship.
I was born in Oakland, California and I am a lifetime resident of the East Bay.
I am an avid sports fan and I enjoy watching America’s favorite team, The Oakland Raiders! I also enjoy all other athletic endeavors.
I look forward to working with you and assisting you to achieve your goals.
